CNC Motion-Control Support Technologist

A Day in the Life
Morning begins with a queue of service tickets from shops running heavy CNC cutting systems. You open a remote session, listen carefully, and guide a customer through isolating a fault—meter in hand, eyes on the wiring diagram. By midday, you’re helping another team square a gantry and align a torch. Later, you walk a new install through calibration and preventative checks, then close out your day documenting fixes in the CRM and arranging a warranty part shipment. Throughout, your mechanical intuition and electrical know-how turn downtime into productivity.
About the Role
Representing a premier industrial machinery manufacturer in Bend, you’ll deliver remote diagnostics, troubleshooting, and customer support for heavy CNC cutting machinery, motion-control platforms, and plasma cutting equipment. This is a hands-on, machinery-focused support position with strong growth potential, including future field service travel once fully trained.
Important: This is not an IT, network administration, or desktop support job. It’s about understanding and supporting physical machines.
What You’ll Handle
- Assist customers via phone, email, and remote tools to diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and motion-control issues.
- Guide component isolation, system testing, and electrical diagnostics using digital multimeters, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot motors, drives, relays, sensors, power supplies, gearboxes, gantry assemblies, and torch alignment.
- Support machine startup, calibration, preventive maintenance, and basic CAD/CAM or controller software issues.
- Document solutions in CRM systems and coordinate replacement parts and warranty claims.
What Sets You Up for Success
- Proven mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting background; hands-on with hand tools and digital multimeters.
- Working knowledge of control circuits, switches, relays, motors, fuses, and wiring; able to read (or learn to read) electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Clear communicator who can explain complex procedures to users with varied mechanical experience.
- Valuable backgrounds: industrial maintenance, automotive/diesel/heavy equipment repair, mechatronics, welding/fabrication equipment, or military electrical/mechanical roles.
Growth & Travel
