About the Role
Pacific Magnetic is a growing aerospace non-destructive testing (NDT) and metal finishing provider in North Hollywood, in operation for over 30 years. We're hiring a Parts Handler to unpack, pack, and move small metal components through our chemical processing line, working closely with both our Shipping & Receiving and Chemical Processing teams to keep parts moving accurately and on schedule.
This is a precision-handling role, not a heavy-labor role — the parts are typically small, expensive, and delicate, and the job depends on someone who won't lose track of or damage components.
What the Job Actually Involves
We'd rather you know exactly what you're signing up for than have you find out on day one:
- • Extreme attention to detail is non-negotiable — parts, quantities, and part numbers must be tracked accurately every time.
• Deadline-driven: you'll be coordinating with two other teams to hit tight processing and shipping windows, so reliable, focused work matters more than raw speed.
• Outdoor work area with shade coverage, but no air conditioning — expect real heat in summer and cold mornings in winter. Constant movement around facility in coordination with shipping & receiving and production teams
• Full-time schedule with occasional overtime
• You'll work near the chemical processing line and may have some infrequent exposure in that area, but this role does not normally require PPE (no respirator, apron, or chemical gloves).
Responsibilities
During the initial cross-training period, responsibilities will include a mix of:
- Unpack incoming parts and verify quantities and part numbers against paperwork
- Prep components for processing by the Chemical Processing team in the correct order and priority – this mainly means putting hundreds of small metal screws, bolts and springs precisely in and out of baskets
- Once chemical processing completed, pack finished parts carefully and accurately for outgoing shipment
- Coordinate directly with Shipping & Receiving to align on incoming and outgoing schedules
- Coordinate directly with the Chemical Processing team on job priority and turnaround
- Keep accurate logs/records of parts movement through the process
- Flag discrepancies (missing or damaged parts) immediately
- Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
No prior experience required — we will train on our systems and processes. What matters more:
- Attention to detail — this is the single most important trait for this role
- Able to stay focused on repetitive, precise tasks without losing track of small parts or details
- Reliable and consistent attendance — the whole line depends on this role showing up
- Clear communicator, comfortable coordinating with two different teams and flagging problems early
- Comfortable working outdoors in a shaded, non-air-conditioned space
- Able to work calmly and accurately under deadline pressure
Growth Path
This role is a built-in pipeline into our Shipping & Receiving department. Parts Handlers who show strong accuracy, reliability, and initiative are the first considered for openings in Shipping & Receiving, which comes with expanded responsibilities and a pay increase. Understanding how parts move through the full process from this seat is exactly the background that makes someone successful in that next role.
