Chief Development Officer
Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Our primary objective is to move people toward self-sufficiency by helping change the circumstances and life patterns that have held them captive to poverty and addictions. Through 18 distinct programs, we focus on tangible needs like food, shelter, access to education and employment training, as well as intangible needs such as friendship, hope, and Christian spiritual guidance.
The primary responsibility of this position is leading the Development Team including events, communications, grants, key partners, key churches with a specific emphasis on cultivating new and existing major donors.
The duties and responsibilities include cultivating relationships with existing and prospective major donors, personal and meaningful connections to encourage new donations, participating in ministry fairs and networking events to spread the word about Open Door, generating leads for new donors, writing thank you notes and promptly thanking donors for major gifts via texts, emails, calls, etc., overseeing the Development Staff to coordinate fundraising efforts, overseeing the end of the year campaign, overseeing the Development budget, and coordinating other funding opportunities and campaigns as they arise.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of non-profit fundraising experience with 3 years of one-on-one donor development experience OR 5+ years of one-on-one donor development experience, team leadership experience, Blackbaud/Raisers Edge experience strongly preferred, passion for urban ministry, outgoing and relational personality, familiarity with Colorado's philanthropic and business community, lead in being a heartfelt team member of the Open Door Ministries staff, have a daily walk with Christ, show respect for the leadership and members of Open Door Fellowship and Westside Church Internacional, exhibit professionalism and integrity, and commitment to excellence as one of the public faces of the ministry.
The work environment is both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor activities can be in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow or high temperatures. This job involves sitting, standing, climbing stairs and walking. This job involves moving up to 30 pounds.
