As a Lead Engineer at JLL, you'll serve as the cornerstone of our 24/7 critical building operations, overseeing the efficient, safe, and responsible operation of all building systems during your assigned shift. This role is essential to shaping a brighter way for our clients by ensuring continuous uptime of mission-critical systems with zero downtime tolerance. You'll be empowered to thrive as the primary technical point of contact during shift hours, leading and coordinating your engineering team while reporting to the Chief Engineer. We believe the most effective teams are built when everyone is empowered to thrive, and in this position, you'll do exactly that by coordinating work order responses, optimizing team performance, and making sound technical decisions under pressure to prevent operational downtime. Your technical expertise and decisive leadership will be vital in maintaining complex building systems, responding to emergencies, and ensuring seamless shift handovers that support our culture of collaboration locally and across the globe. This is an on-site position working first shift (7am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday) where your contributions directly impact the spaces where people work and the critical operations that keep our facilities running flawlessly.
Oversee maintenance and continuous operation of all critical building systems during your shift, serving as primary escalation point for technical issues and emergencies
Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and critical equipment performance, conducting regular facility rounds and system checks to identify potential issues proactively
Coordinate and lead work order responses during shift hours, ensuring timely resolution of issues while executing documented planned maintenance procedures
Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems with minimal disruption to operations
Lead shift communications by documenting all activities, open issues, and priorities in CMMS and shift handover logs for seamless 24/7 operational awareness
Coordinate contractor activities during shift hours for technical and specialized work, tracking maintenance completion rates and identifying resource constraints
Ensure all shift activities comply with safety procedures and regulatory requirements, conducting safety briefings and enforcing safe work practices across your team
Required qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of related experience in facilities operations, especially in critical operations environments
Universal CFC EPA certification with strong technical expertise in complex building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and serve as primary point of contact during shift hours with sound decision-making capabilities
Previous lead, supervisory, or team coordination experience with demonstrated ability to work independently and manage emergency responses
Strong customer service and communication skills with ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, use ladders up to 30 feet tall, and frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and conduct facility rounds throughout shift
Preferred qualifications:
Trade school education, union training, military service, or college-level coursework in technical fields
Additional technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related building systems disciplines
Working knowledge of CMMS systems for work order management and documentation, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Experience with 24/7 critical operations or shift-based facilities management in commercial or mission-critical environments
Background in implementing maintenance procedures, schedules, and system improvement initiatives
Familiarity with emergency response protocols and participation in on-call rotation systems
Schedule: M-F 7AM-3:30PM

Expected compensation for this position: 79,000.00 114,700.00 USD per year
Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
