Join our team as a Quality Engineer and play a key role in driving process excellence, quality, and innovation in a precision machining environment. You’ll leverage your expertise in CNC programming, fixture design, process optimization, and quality systems to support production and continuous improvement. This is a permanent opportunity to influence aerospace machining performance and product reliability in a high-accuracy, fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
As a Quality Engineer focused on aerospace machining, you will be responsible for ensuring that complex precision components consistently meet stringent customer and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and leadership to embed robust quality practices into every stage of the machining process. Your work will directly impact product conformity, process stability, and the successful delivery of aerospace and defense projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs for complex machining operations to achieve repeatable, high-precision results.
- Design and implement custom fixtures and work-holding solutions that support tight tolerances and efficient machining workflows.
- Analyze, document, and improve manufacturing processes using lean principles and statistical process control (SPC).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product quality across machining operations.
- Develop and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment to minimize downtime and variability.
- Establish and maintain robust inspection procedures for in-process and final product verification in an aerospace machining environment.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for new and existing products, including labor, materials, tooling, and equipment.
- Ensure all processes and documentation comply with AS9100D requirements and support ongoing certification.
- Participate in internal and external audits, support corrective actions, and maintain quality management system documentation.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in CNC programming and complex machining operations, ideally in a precision or aerospace environment.
- Strong background in fixture and work-holding design for tight-tolerance, multi-axis machining.
- Demonstrated ability to design, document, and optimize manufacturing processes with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Experience implementing and supporting maintenance reliability programs and equipment troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of floor inspection techniques, calibration practices, and measurement systems for machined components.
- Proficiency in cost estimating and quoting for machining and manufacturing projects.
- In-depth understanding of AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality management systems and their application in production environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and quality functions.
Desirable Skills:
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar process improvement certifications.
- Experience with CAM software such as Esprite, Mastercam, NX, or Mazatrol DX.
- Experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
- Experience with quoting software such as Paperless Parts.
- Hands-on shop experience with a focus on metal cutting and precision machining.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or defense manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS13100 standards and their integration into machining operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) required.
- Additional certifications in quality, process improvement, or reliability engineering preferred.
- Ongoing professional development in CNC technology, metrology, or aerospace standards is an advantage.
If you are a quality-focused engineer ready to drive excellence in aerospace machining, we encourage you to apply and help shape the next generation of precision manufacturing.
