About the Opportunity
As an independent life insurance agent, you will work with individuals and families to understand their financial protection needs and present appropriate insurance options. You will have the opportunity to develop your product knowledge, strengthen your client communication skills, and build your own book of business with support and guidance from the agency.
This is a remote, commission-only independent-contractor opportunity—not a salaried or hourly position. Your results will depend on your sales activity, client relationships, and ability to place eligible insurance business.

- Connect with prospective clients to understand their needs, priorities, and financial protection goals.
- Explain available insurance products and help clients evaluate suitable options.
- Conduct client consultations by phone, video, or other appropriate communication methods.
- Assist clients with insurance applications and follow up on underwriting and policy placement.
- Maintain accurate client records and follow up on outstanding applications and service requests.
- Develop and maintain professional client relationships throughout the insurance process.
- Participate in available training and mentorship to strengthen product knowledge and sales skills.
- Follow applicable insurance laws, carrier guidelines, ethical standards, and client privacy requirements.
Insurance Products
Depending on client eligibility, needs, and carrier availability, agents may work with products such as:
- Life insurance
- Mortgage protection
- Final expense insurance
- Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance
- Annuities, where appropriately licensed and authorized
Product availability, eligibility, and suitability vary by carrier and individual circumstances.
Training and Support
Mims Financial Services, LLC offers access to resources designed to help agents develop their insurance knowledge and professional skills, including:
- Training and ongoing educational opportunities
- Mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals
- Access to contracted insurance carriers and available product information
- Administrative resources to assist with the application and policy placement process
Agents are responsible for meeting applicable licensing requirements before conducting activities that require a license.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional, dependable, and client-focused approach.
- Willingness to learn insurance products, sales practices, and applicable regulations.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage follow-up activities.
- Comfort using digital tools, virtual communication platforms, and client-management systems.
- Commitment to ethical sales practices, accurate communication, and client confidentiality.
- An active, appropriate insurance license, or willingness to obtain the required license before performing regulated activities.
Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, relationship management, or other client-facing roles can be beneficial. Entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply.
Compensation Disclosure
This is a 1099 independent-contractor position compensated entirely through commissions. There is no base salary, hourly wage, or guaranteed minimum income. Earnings are not guaranteed and depend on individual sales production and the terms of the applicable written compensation agreements.
Depending on the applicable contract, compensation may include commissions, renewals, bonuses, or other specified components. Commission advances, where offered, are subject to the applicable agreement and may be recoverable. Commission reversals or chargebacks may apply to certain policies.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for understanding your contractual obligations and any applicable business expenses, taxes, licensing costs, and other costs associated with your practice.
Work Environment
This is a remote opportunity that offers flexibility in how you organize your work, subject to client needs, carrier requirements, licensing obligations, and contractual responsibilities. Some client appointments may require evening or weekend availability.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity may be a good fit for someone who enjoys helping people, communicating with clients, learning new skills, and developing an independent insurance sales practice. Candidates should be comfortable with performance-based compensation and understand that success requires consistent effort, professional development, and client-focused service.
