OVERVIEW

The School of Social Work in the Morrison Family College of Health at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for MSW Program Director and tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The position includes a 9-month contract with 50% assigned time to administer our MSW program and part-time compensated summer administrative work. The position begins September 1, 2024. Depending on candidate qualifications, an expedited review for tenure, or years of credit toward tenure, may be negotiated.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

• Establish and monitor annual program goals
• Lead curriculum development and revision
• Teach three MSW courses per year
• Lead accreditation and program assessment processes and reporting
• Facilitate adjunct faculty hires
• Facilitate and Monitor faculty course scheduling
• Develop and monitor the program academic budget
• Serve as a representative of the academic program and the college both in and outside of the university

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements for the faculty position include:

• An MSW degree from an accredited institution
• DSW or PhD (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in social work or closely related field
• 2 years social work practice experience.
• 2 years social work teaching experience (BSW, MSW, or DSW)
• 2 years experience in academic administration
• An active research agenda
• Licensure: Minnesota law requires licensure for social work educators who have a social work degree. Per that statute, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: Hold a current social work license in MinnesotaHold an equivalent social work license in a different state, to be transferredIf no Minnesota or transferrable license, be eligible and willing to obtain a Minnesota social work license

Preferred qualifications

• At least one year teaching specifically in an MSW program
• At least one year of administrative experience in a social work program
• Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and experience with either initial or re-accreditation processes
