Job description

Trip Development Coordinator

The seasonal Trip Development Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the Trip Development Team's winter projects. In this role, you'll help improve the quality, accuracy, and usability of the resources and systems that enable our trips to run smoothly and at the highest level of quality. Projects may include reviewing and organizing Field Staff and Field Expert resources, auditing trip data, conducting quality research, and helping improve internal tools and workflows. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data, identifying patterns, and bringing structure to complex information. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organization, curiosity and business-minded orientation, and an ability to quickly learn new systems. You'll thrive if you enjoy improving how things work and are motivated by making information more accurate, accessible, and useful for others.

What you'll be doing:

  • In Ascent, Teams, SharePoint, and other Backroads systems, review, update, and organize internal resources to ensure content is accurate, current, and easy to find and use.
  • Conduct audits of trip and regional content in Ascent and the On Trip App to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform quality research and data analysis to support decision-making and project planning for the FE Program and other partners in Trip Development
  • Help standardize processes and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency across the department.
  • Assist with developing, testing, and improving tools and systems to support efficiency across TD, leveraging emerging technologies including Copilot AI.
  • Collaborate with Trip Development partners, including the Field Expert Program, Guest Focus, and Hotel Operations, as well as cross-functional partners to gather information and implement complex initiatives.
  • Contribute to a variety of projects that support trip quality, department resources, efficiency, and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • 2+ seasons of Trip Expert experience is preferred but not required.
  • Informed, business-minded, and global perspective on Backroads.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent organizational instincts and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Comfort working with data, spreadsheets, and large amounts of information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

About the Department: The Trip Development Team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving Backroads trips and the guest experience. Working closely with Operations, Marketing, Product, and Field Staff, the team manages trip information, quality standards, resources, systems, and processes that support both Field Staff and guests. The TD team helps increase operational efficiency and drive quality improvements.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time seasonal position (October-March). Exact timing based on departmental needs and candidate availability
  • Preferred location is on-site, in Berkeley, CA. Flexibility on the location of this role may be considered for highly qualified candidates and business need. Location must be within the US.
  • 4 days in-office, 1 day work from home (Wednesdays)
  • Housing included in local Backroads Field Staff House
  • Compensation is determined according to the candidate's experience and qualifications. Pay rates may differ depending on work location, with individuals located in designated hubs or within the operations area potentially qualifying for higher compensation compared to those in fully remote positions. The posted compensation band is for a Berkeley, CA based role.
