Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to support the daily cell assembly production, aligning with both internal development needs and external customer demand. You will lead and support the cell assembly process development, scaling processes from lab-scale experiments to pilot line and eventually to full-scale production. This role involves working closely with equipment vendors for the selection, purchasing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure reliable operation. You will optimize and improve cell assembly and inspection processes to achieve consistent product quality and performance.
Responsibilities
- Support daily cell assembly production to meet both internal development needs and external customer demand.
- Lead and support cell assembly process development, scaling processes from lab-scale experiments to pilot line and full-scale production.
- Work closely with equipment vendors to support equipment selection, purchasing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Optimize and improve cell assembly and inspection processes for consistent product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and engineering for process transfer and scale-up activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of process conditions, experimental results, and production data.
- Perform fabrication of lithium-ion batteries and components according to strict standards to ensure consistent quality.
- Operate and handle mass balances, micrometers, gloveboxes, chemicals, and lab equipment to produce lithium-ion battery cells.
- Perform lab maintenance tasks to maintain lab environment standards and essential laboratory supplies.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional industry experience or a related Master’s Degree.
- Experience working in a chemical laboratory setting and comfortable handling chemicals.
- General knowledge of equipment calibration and procedures regarding chemical safety.
- Comfortable with operating benchtop machinery and performing repetitive tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Mandarin Chinese language skills (spoken and/or read) is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with cell stacking, electrode assembly, or similar precision assembly processes.
- Experience with automated stacking equipment, robotics, vision systems, and motion control systems.
- Experience in operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience in designing and implementing assembly fixtures, tooling, and jigs.

This role involves working with advanced laboratory equipment and chemicals in a dynamic laboratory setting. The candidate must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks and handling chemicals. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Billerica, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr.
