We are seeking a Teradata Infrastructure DBA to join our team. This role will involve managing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise-scale Teradata environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have experience in Teradata architecture, system administration, performance tuning, and database infrastructure, along with a passion for large-scale data platforms and operational excellence.

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Teradata Infrastructure DBA with strong expertise in Teradata platform architecture and enterprise database environments. The Teradata Infrastructure DBA will be responsible for installation, configuration, administration, and optimization of Teradata systems across distributed environments.
The Teradata Infrastructure DBA will work extensively on performance tuning, system monitoring, backup and recovery, and infrastructure management. The Teradata Infrastructure DBA will collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless database operations and high system reliability.
Additionally, the Teradata Infrastructure DBA will drive automation, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring compliance with enterprise security and regulatory standards. The Teradata Infrastructure DBA will play a critical role in maintaining system uptime, scalability, and performance across enterprise data warehouse systems.
Key Responsibilities:-
Install, configure, and upgrade Teradata software and related components (6 10+ years experience).

Manage Teradata architecture including parsing engine, BYNET, AMPs, vprocs, hashing, and fallback mechanisms.

Monitor and optimize system performance including CPU, memory, disk I/O, and query execution.

Perform SQL tuning, query optimization, and analyze Explain plans.

Implement workload management (WLM), resource allocation, and query prioritization.
-
Manage backup, restore, disaster recovery planning, and high availability strategies.
-
Administer database security including roles, privileges, encryption, and compliance (SOX).
-
Perform Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, SLES, Oracle Linux) for Teradata environments.
-
Automate tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) and tools like Ansible or Terraform.
-
Monitor systems using tools like Teradata Viewpoint, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
-
Manage Teradata utilities such as BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT, and DBSControl.

Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and infrastructure teams for system improvements.

Perform capacity planning, forecasting, and system scalability improvements.

Lead incident management, root-cause analysis (RCA), and postmortems.
-
Support database releases, upgrades, migrations, and change management processes.

6 10+ years of experience in Teradata DBA and infrastructure management.

Strong expertise in Teradata architecture (BYNET, AMP, hashing, fallback, spool management).

Experience with Teradata versions (16.x, 17.x, preferably 20.x).

Strong SQL skills including complex query writing, tuning, and optimization.

Experience with performance monitoring tools and diagnostics.

Knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability systems.

Strong Linux administration experience.

Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) and automation tools.

Knowledge of security practices including LDAP, Kerberos, encryption, and auditing.

Experience with monitoring tools such as Viewpoint (mandatory), Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with Teradata on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or virtual environments.

Knowledge of containerization and virtualization technologies.

Experience with project management, migrations, and system upgrades.

Certifications such as Teradata Certified Administrator or Linux certifications (RHCSA/RHCE).

Proven track record in performance improvements and large-scale system optimization.

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
