Department Summary

The University of Oregon (UO) is a flagship public research university known for its collaborative culture, innovation, and commitment to student success. Located in Eugene -a vibrant, nature-rich college town - UO serves more than 23,000 students and continues to grow its impact through academic excellence, research, and community engagement.

University Advancement plays a vital role in supporting UO’s mission by building meaningful relationships and securing philanthropic support. Through partnerships with alumni and donors worldwide, the university advances scholarships, academic programs, and transformative initiatives.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual heart of the University of Oregon, encompassing a wide range of disciplines across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. As the university’s largest and most academically diverse college, CAS plays a central role in driving research, fostering critical thinking, and delivering a comprehensive liberal arts education. With a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and student success, the college prepares graduates to address complex global challenges while advancing knowledge and discovery.

Position Summary

As the Director of Development for the College of Arts and Science, you will play a key frontline fundraising role advancing philanthropic support for the University of Oregon. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing on gifts in the $100K+ range, and lead all aspects of the donor lifecycle - from identification and qualification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. You will partner closely with colleagues across University Advancement and academic units, including the College of Arts and Sciences, to align donor interests with institutional priorities and maximize philanthropic impact.

You will serve as a highly collaborative and externally facing representative of the university, regularly engaging with donors, alumni, and stakeholders. This role requires frequent travel and proactive outreach to build relationships and advance giving conversations.

This position is ideal for a motivated fundraiser who enjoys being in the field, building connections, and executing strategy. You will contribute to broader development planning efforts while personally driving results and helping grow a strong pipeline of future major and leadership gift donors.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Three years of professional frontline fundraising experience or five years combined experience in development and in a closely related field such as corporate sales.
