Job description

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator (PC) is at the heart of the Genesys Works student experience. Through coaching, workforce development, partnership management, and career readiness programming, the PC helps young people develop the skills, confidence, and professional relationships needed to achieve long-term success. This role serves as a trusted mentor, educator, and advocate for students while building strong partnerships with employers, schools, and families. PCs are responsible for implementing the Genesys Works' core model which includes:

  • Providing professional support and guidance to a cohort of interns during a year-long internship
  • Facilitating strong, supportive relationships between interns and their site supervisors
  • Delivering our college and career success programming, and
  • Leading a cohort of participants in our yearly Summer Training program.

PCs will be expected to lead, motivate, supervise, and mentor youth in a manner that helps transform them into workforce-ready young professionals. Individuals with a commitment to youth development and passion for advocating for students from underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Genesys Works team is looking for a values-driven individual who wants to make an impact by empowering young people and expanding access to meaningful career opportunities. Strong candidates are energized by the chance to help students succeed while contributing to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Our organizational values are putting our young people first, collaboration, sustainability, equity, and respect. These values are woven across all sites, teams, and positions. If you are someone who applies an equity lens in your approach, proactively identifies opportunities to reduce barriers and improve outcomes, this could be the next great fit you're looking for.

Every day, Program Coordinators help create opportunities that can change the trajectory of a young person's life. You will work directly with students as they secure internships, develop professional skills, explore college and career pathways, and gain the confidence to succeed in the workplace and beyond.

Relationship and Account Management

  • Manage a cohort of approximately 2530 interns, providing individualized coaching, performance monitoring, and career-readiness support throughout the program cycle.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners, school personnel, and internship supervisors to ensure exceptional experiences and outcomes for both interns and partners.
  • Facilitate strong, supportive relationships between interns and their site supervisors by hosting regular triad meetings, coaching site-supervisors on working with youth from underserved communities and providing clarity on Genesys Works policies and procedures.

Delivery of Curriculum and Professional Development

  • Lead team meetings of Genesys Works' interns during the school year to build cohort engagement as well as to make sure interns are on track in choosing a career path, applying to colleges, and securing financial aid.
  • Facilitate professional and/or technical skills training to students during an eight-week summer training program to prepare them for an internship.
  • Monitor summer training performance and provide primary input on which students earn an internship based on summer training performance.

Data Analysis and Entry

  • Track intern performance, program benchmarks, and outcome metrics; utilize data to identify support needs and drive participant success.
  • Meet ongoing data entry expectations documenting interactions with interns and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage timesheets for a cohort of 25-30 interns for accuracy, oversee intern time off requests, and coach interns on time management.

Coaching and Feedback

  • Actively monitor intern performance in the workplace through setting expectations and delivering student evaluations based on overall performance.
  • Coach interns on how to successfully balance school, work, and life during internship.
  • Provide coaching and problem-solving support to internship site supervisors to ensure a meaningful internship experience.

Required Experience:

  • Associate degree plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and professional experience. Relevant experience may include youth development, education, workforce development, nonprofit services, coaching, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success building trust and rapport with youth, educators, families, employers, and community partners.
  • Ability to manage 25-30 intern cases/files.
  • Proven youth development experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database/CRM platforms.
  • Ability to accurately maintain records and analyze participant data.
  • Experience developing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Deep belief in organizational mission and commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations in diverse settings (e.g., students, staff, corporate personnel and/or school administrators).
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong sense of accountability for both intern achievement and professional development.
  • Strong presence and leadership in instructional or group setting.
  • Occasional evening events for interns and families (e.g., roughly twice monthly).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally, including locations inaccessible by public transit. Mileage reimbursement is available if a personal vehicle is used for core business other than your commute.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Saint Paul office a minimum of 2 days per week, with additional in-person attendance required for summer training, partner meetings, intern events, and organizational activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lived experience or strong cultural competency relevant to the populations served (first-gen college students, low-income communities, etc.).
  • Experience facilitating group trainings or curriculum delivery to teens/young adults.
  • Experience with youth workforce development, career coaching, or college access programming specifically.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM/case management database.
  • Bilingual or multilingual (especially Spanish, Hmong, or Somali).
  • Project management or caseload management experience with defined metrics/KPIs.

What Success Looks Like in the First Year:

  • Establish strong and trusted relationships with a cohort of 2530 interns.
  • Achieve consistent documentation and data quality standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with assigned internship supervisors and school partners.
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality college, career, and professional development programming.
  • Support strong intern retention, workplace performance, and post-secondary planning outcomes.
  • Contribute positively to team culture and organizational initiatives.

While the role includes significant responsibility, Program Coordinators are supported by a collaborative team, structured systems, ongoing professional development, and coaching from experienced managers.
